TESTIMONIALS

“Dearest Miss Lucia,
Thank you for making "Kids Art" so much fun! I look forward every week to taking your class.”

Dulce Paloma

"I started weekly art lessons with Lucia at age six and over the next six years she not only taught me an invaluable foundation of technical artistic knowledge and skill but also, and more importantly, a deep love for art and the creative spirit. As a past student now in her mid-twenties, I can't help but reflect on the ways in which her lessons and time has shaped me in my work as a full-time designer working in tech, an artist, and person."

“I wanted to thank you for the wonderful experience and education your studio has provided to my family. You may not be aware, but (name) was a severly premature child. As a result, he experienced challenges in gross and fine motor skills. He never enjoyed these type of activities until he started attending My Arts Studio classes...Your passion for art was contagious and resulted in many spontaneous art projects at home for both of my children. I hope you take pride in knowing that you did a terrific job at providing quality arts education to the children in our community”

LUCIA HENRY
Artist - Art Instructor - Graphic Designer - Interior Designer
Certified Art 4 Healing Facilitator - Certified Therapeutic Art Life Coach

Hello! I have been an artist and an art instructor for the past 25 years.
I was born in Lima, Peru, and I can remember always being interested in some form of creative exploration, from short story writing to theater custom design, or mural painting. I got a taste for arts education in the early 90's, when as a college arts student, I taught drawing, painting and ceramics to young pupils at different private schools and throughout Lima, Peru.

I have been teaching from Orange County California as My Arts Studio, Inc. since 2002. I opened an art school under the same name in 2005, located in Newport Beach CA, which I had to close after three wonderful years, due to the high overhead costs and the recession. I have also taught art classes for schools and organizations such as the Irvine Fine Arts Center, Art & Creativity For Healing, Inc., the Huntington Beach Art Center, and currently teach a wide variety of drawing, painting and clay sculpture classes for the Recreation Programs of many cities in Orange County, California... and virtually/online all over the world!

My passion have always been the fine arts or “artes plasticas”, but my parents decided that graphic design was a more “realistic” career. Fortunately for me, I was taught the graphic arts in the “old school” way, no computer graphics, but watercolor illustration, figure and portrait painting, color separation (by hand!), the use of gouache, acrylics, and all of the wet and dry media of my dreams!
I prefer to refer to my artwork as canvas journals, as I believe that art is the most wonderful and pure non- verbal form of
self-expression. I work with a variety of mixed-media techniques. My pieces are very textural, with a use of bold colors and reflect somehow my graphic design background in the need to add text within the work, and to convey a message using lots of symbolism. My work reproduces familiar visual signs, and you may find some of my Roman Catholic beliefs rearranged into new conceptually layered pieces. A bit surreal, my work is my final interpretation of ones life's desires, fears, happiness, confusion and of course passion.
