ART EXPLORATIONS
In this beginning art class, students will combine fun drawing exercises and creative painting projects to build skills in young artists. The different elements in art will be introduced through a variety of media such as acrylics on canvas, pastels, charcoal, watercolors and more. Emphasis is placed on techniques as we explore different materials. Join these fun art workshops! All art supplies are included, and aprons will be provided.

Hello! I am Lucia and I have been an artist and an art instructor for the past 25 years. I was born in Lima, Peru, and I remember always being interested in some form of creative exploration, from short story writing to theater custom design, or mural painting.
I got a taste for arts education in the early 90's, when as a college arts student, I taught drawing, painting and clay to young pupils at different private schools and throughout Lima, Peru.
I have been teaching from my home town in OC, California since 2002.
I teach a wide variety of drawing, painting and clay sculpture classes for schools and organizations such as the Irvine Fine Arts Center, Art & Creativity for Healing, Inc., the Huntington Beach Art Center, the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center, private retreats, online and in beautiful places abroad.
I prefer to refer to my artwork as canvas journals, as I believe that art is the most wonderful and pure form of non-verbal self-expression and I work with a variety of mixed-media techniques.
My pieces are very textural, with a use of bold colors, and reflect somehow my graphic design background in the need to add text within the work, and to convey a message using lots of symbolism.
My work reproduces familiar visual signs rearranged into new conceptually layered pieces. A bit surreal, my work is my final interpretation of one’s life's desires, fears, happiness, and of course passion.
